A Message from my Dearest Friend

Updated: Jan 21, 2022

This is in honor of the best, the dearest, the most amazing friend I have ever had the privilege of knowing...Richard Thunderwolf Wilson. It was written before he passed on, and after I wrote my book

Richard had been suffering from very aggressive prostate cancer. He also had heart issues, C.O.P.D, and the Philadelphia chromosome that creates lymphoblastic leukemia. In spite of this, he was a man of great strength and fortitude. He was always full of humor, laughing, and making everyone around him laugh with him even in the worst of times. Through his pain and suffering he strove to keep going, and never give up.

Eventually the prostate cancer metastasized to his lungs and a small spot on his spine. The lungs were treated, but the cancer eventually made his bones extremely brittle. His spine kept on breaking, and the pain was excruciating. The doctors kept filling the bones with some sort of medical glue, but the bones would break at the least provocation. In order to do this, they had to take him off his blood thinners which he took for a stent in his heart.

Around the end of October, I had a very odd dream about him. In my dream he looked well, hearty and in great spirits. He said that he was going to go on a trip and seemed very excited about the prospect. I was a bit taken aback because I knew how ill he'd been. I asked him where he was headed, and he just chuckled.

I asked him if he had told his daughter. They were very close and given how sick he'd been I figured she'd want to know he was planning on a trip. He told me he didn't tell her because he didn't want her to stop him from going. I asked when he was leaving. He said in a few hours. There was no luggage, so I asked him where that was, and again he chuckled. Finally, I said "Well will you have a phone?" He let out a huge laugh and said not exactly. I woke up from that dream, and later that afternoon his daughter informed me he had passed away.

It never ceases to amaze me when my dreams come to fruition. It is obvious in hindsight that his spirit came with this message to let me know he was moving on in his own unique way. While he is departed, he is never gone. He is in my heart, and I have had several dreams of him since in which he's left messages saying he's fine, although he wished he could have stayed longer.

My reply has been consistent in that I cherished the ten years I knew him on this earth, and I will see him again when it's my turn to pass over.

It has been several years since my friend departed this earth, but as long as I breath he still lives through me.
